Nazarbayev University will participate in the Times Higher Education (THE) Eurasia Universities Summit on 24-25 September 2025 at the Heydar Aliyev Center in Baku, Azerbaijan. The summit will gather university leaders, policymakers, and researchers from across Europe and Asia to discuss how transnational research can drive social and economic progress.
NU President Professor Waqar Ahmad and Dr. Aida Sagintayeva, Vice-Provost for Academic Planning and Budget and Dean of the Graduate School of Education, will represent the University at a high-profile panel discussion alongside Dr. Elchin Babayev, Rector of Baku State University. Their session, “How can universities in Eurasia make research a driver for regional development?”, will highlight how research can be transformed into actionable solutions that advance regional growth.
By sharing NU’s model as a research-intensive university in Central Asia, the University will emphasize its role as a hub for educational and socio-economic transformation, offering insights into how institutions in the Global South can become co-creators of globally relevant innovation.
