Nazarbayev University (NU) hostied its annual Majors Fair for students of the Foundation Year Program (NUFYP) and first-year undergraduates. The event showcased each school’s academic offerings, helping students shape their educational paths. It was a chance to meet other professors face-to-face, learn about deadlines and admission requirements, discover ideas for research or internships, and even find future project collaborators.
“I’m still deciding between Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, but I definitely want to continue studying at NU,” said Garifulla Dinmukhamed, a NUFYP student.
This year introduces two new options: a Bachelor of Business Administration program from the Graduate School of Business, and a six-year U.S.-style medical track combining pre-med preparation with four years of training leading to the MD degree (Doctor of Medicine).
“During their first year of undergraduate study, students still have time to reconsider their choice of major. Transfers between schools are only possible after completing the first year. If a student has met all the requirements of their chosen program, a transfer decision may be made as early as the end of the spring semester,” explained Aikerim Daurenbayeva, Head of Academic Advising Office.
Alongside program information, the fair featured interactive games, quizzes, and the Major exploration adventure game with prizes.
