NU has established NU Medicine, a vibrant academic healthcare system based on international standards and developed in partnership with the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine (UPSOM) and its Medical Center (UPMC). NU Medicine consists of the School of Medicine (SOM), University Medical Center (UMC), Center for Life Sciences (CLS), and other NU schools.

School of Medicine

NU School of Medicine (NU SOM) continues to expand its educational and research programs together with its strategic partner University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine to train the new generation of health care professionals (doctors, nurses, biomedical scientists and public health specialists).

UMC operates 4 modern hospitals, 3 of them are accredited by the Joint Commission International (JCI): National Research Center for Maternal and Child Health (JCI), Republican Diagnostic Center (JCI), National Research Cardiac Surgery Center (JCI)*, Shymkent Cardiac Center*.
