Republic Day symbolizes the revival of centuries-old statehood, starting from the Turkic Khaganates and the Kazakh Khanate. This holiday embodies the idea of freedom, for which ancestors fought, and the people's aspiration for independence and sovereignty.
On October 23, in honour of Republic Day, NU held a ceremonial concert featuring students, professors, and university staff under the slogan "Kazakh People—Land of Prosperity." NU President Professor Waqar Ahmad delivered a congratulatory speech. Highlighting the university's contributions to the development of education, research, and innovation, Dr Ahmad emphasized the importance of building a community of people who share the future of the country and the entire region, as well as the principles of the great Kazakh poet Abay, who called for a meaningful life.
The festive concert, which began with the national anthem performed by the university choir, continued with performances by student clubs. Akkerbez Tleubekova's performance of the folk song "Bir Bala" on the zhetygen captivated the audience's hearts. The NU orchestra performed the kui pieces “Zhumyr qylysh” and “Saranjap” The concert program also included excerpts from the plays “Kultegin Batyr” and “About Kairat Ryskulbekov”, poetry readings, and dance performances prepared by student clubs.
On October 24, the celebration continued with a festive show, concert program, and interactive games involving students and university staff.
