During his talk, Li discussed critical economic issues facing the region, including structural reforms necessary to decrease youth unemployment, ways to combat the climate change, and the economic outlook for Kazakhstan.
Following the talk Li noted: “I’m very impressed by the university. In such a short period of time this university has become one of the best universities in the Central Asian region. The lecture was also very good, we had a lot of good questions from the students. I think the students are very energetic, but also intellectually active, thinking about the world, the country, the policies. I’m very happy to see such a young and promising student body.”
Bo Li, who assumed the role of IMF Deputy Managing Director in August 2021, oversees the IMF’s work in 90 countries and a broad range of policy issues.
